CISM at Florida Tech

The Center for Integrated Space weather Modeling is a Science and Technology Center funded by the National Science Foundation. The scientific goal of CISM is to create models of the space environment, extending from the Sun to the Earth, that can be used for space weather prediction.

CISM is headquartered at Boston University (see CISM link on the menu bar), but comprises a number of institutions including:

            Alabama A&M University
            University of California, Berkeley
            University of Colorado, Boulder
            Dartmouth College
            Florida Institute of Technology
            National Center for Atmospheric Research
            University of Maryland. College Park
            Rice University
            Science Applications International Corporation
            Stanford University

This site outlines the CISM work being done by the research group at the Florida Institute of Technology. The Florida Tech group leads the CISM Diversity effort and has major responsibilities in education and model validation. We also participate in aspects of code-coupling, development of computational resources, and knowledge transfer.

The group at Florida Tech moved to Melbourne from El Paso, Texas, bringing faculty, staff, and students from the University of Texas at El Paso, in the summer of 2004. Since arriving here we have established a vigorous research agenda that involves undergraduates as well as graduate students. We are also very active in visualization work, both for research and education.
