Space Weather Weekend

The Space Weather Weekend is a program implemented by the diversity thrust of CISM. The goals of this program are to involve historically underrepresented minorities and women in space weather research and to increase the number of underrepresented space weather professionals.  This program focuses on recruitment and retention.

Among the objectives of this program are to expose participants to a new field of science in an innovative teaching environment and to establish personal connection with participants.

In the summer of 2005, 11 students from Minority-Serving Institutions participated in a series of lectures and presentations facilitated by scientists and staff from AAMU, Boston Univeristy, Florida Tech, and Marshall Space Flight Center.
